What version of linux will i be able to gun on my pc and which will be the fastest *10 points immediately*?

I have 8 gb of memory left over and 1gb of ram lol (i know i have sucky hard drive memory but that 8 left over is good for me i hardly download anything cause when i download something i end up deleting it a couple days later lol)
