Guitar pros-I have a question for you...?

So, I am interested in purchasing a G&L Comanche guitar. I've always liked them, their feel & sound. I recognize that G&L is technically a Fender since it was Leo Fender's last company before he ped away. My question is this...what did he create & or modify within G&L that he couldn't with Fender. The ASAT & other models are Strats & Teles but what other differences are there. The Comanche guitar is priced much higher $1200 range retail (might be marked up quite a bit here) than the average American made strat $700-800). If anyone can provide me with any info. I'd appreciate it. -Karen
